Training Day Report

Our first training day was held in September with Joe Anderson doing the instruction. Everyone who came along got to fly, including one person who enjoyed it so much, he joined the club on the spot. The following e-mails say more than I can:

Tom/Jim

I must say that the weather conditions at the site on Sunday were superb, and the actual day itself went virtually like clockwork. The camaraderie was excellent and both Stuart and myself really enjoyed the flying because it was the first time that we have met up with some of our newer members. Now as far as Joe was concerned, he did an absolutely wonderful job and I don't say this just because I know him. He was at the teaching bit, hell for leather the whole day without a stop. He went virtually round in a circle with all the guys that could not fly on their own. He gave them guidance, checked out models and hooked them up via trainer leads and just DID IT. All in all - WONDERFUL - must happen again soon.

Best Regards,

Douglas.

Hi Tom/Jim

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Thanks so much for organising the training day on Sunday. AT LAST THE MASCOT FLEW !!!. 1st flight was brought to an end after about 3 minutes when the elastic bands (I only had 4 on) allowed the wing to shift and the bands then jammed the ailerons! However thanks to Joe's skill it was a softish landing and a long walk for me to recover the model. Before the next take-off the engine cut on the runway and Jim's advanced diagnostic skills immediately pointed out the problem to be the fuel lines cut at the tank end (cheers Jim). In comes the aid of another club member (can't remember his name) with spare fuel line and Jim packed the tank in foam.

2nd flight went fine for about 4 mins (hey getting better) when the exhaust did a fair impersonation of a Cluster bomb and parted company with the engine (I was so engrossed I didn't even hear or see it fall).

So that was it. 2 flights of about 7 mins total and I LOVED IT!!! Tomorrow will see a new exhaust for the engine and some more packing around the receiver etc. Can't wait to get in the air again.

I am now officially Hooked Thanks again for all the work, help and support.

Best regards

Ray
